Some Simple Driving Test Mistakes

Here are a few of the simple driving test mistakes that a lot of learner drivers commit and stops them from getting that full UK licence.

1. Giving Way to Traffic on the LEFT at a mini-roundabout.
Even though you are a leaner driver, you should always follow the rules of the highway code, and only stop or yeild to cars coming from the right on a UK mini-roundabout.

2. Position turning right Major to Minor Road
Make sure you are familiar with the appropriate positions for turning right when on a main road.

In the video above, the driver held up the vehicle behind it (serious fault) because of bad positioning.

Here is another case of what might be classed as a simple mistake that the DSA examiner could mark as a serious, thus stopping you from pssing the driving test.

3. Road Signs
Many learner drivers only pay attention to speed limit signs, but there is a lot more that they tell you! In the example below, paying attention will have prevented the manual intervention.

There is no excuse for missing or ignoring the 3 signs and doing so on a real driving test deserves a failure report!

4. Overtaking when it is not safe.
I have been on driving tests where this has happened, so it is common.

Always access the situation before acting, and remember, just because the car in front did it, does not mean it is or will still be safe!

Here is a video about the extended driving test if you need to take one to get your driving licence back.

Important! If you are not learning to drive with an instructor, it is important that BOTH you and the person teaching you to drive read The DSA official test guide, this book will greatly increase your chance of passing the driving test without spending too much money on lessons.
